AuthorSuite for Publishers

Clear the Slush.Keep the Credential.

AuthorSuite Certified Seal

Pre-screen every submission before a reader opens it. Acquire with a scored, documented evaluation on file. And hand every author you sign a verifiable credential with your imprint's name on it.

Sample AuthorSuite graded certificate

The slush pile isn't a reading problem.
It's a cost problem, a consistency problem,
and a defensibility problem — every month.

What Changes

Before and after the pile is pre-screened.

Not a new editorial philosophy. The same acquisitions standard your house already holds — applied to every submission before a person spends an hour on it.

Without AuthorSuite
🕐Readers burn hours on submissions that were never viable
📉Coverage quality drifts with the reader, the deadline, and the stack
🎲Acquisition calls made on gut, with no documented rationale
💸Reader fees and freelance coverage cost thousands a month
🔒Authors uneasy about where their unpublished manuscript goes
📭Nothing to point to when an entrant asks why they were passed
With AuthorSuite
📊Every submission arrives already scored, graded, and verdicted
📐One standard — submission #1 and submission #500 read the same way
📄A formal Certificate of Evaluation behind every acquisition decision
⏱️Readers spend their hours only on the shortlist that earns it
💻Manuscripts are never stored on our servers — only the score metadata
✦Every signed author carries your imprint's credential forward
Why Publishers Use It

Six reasons this belongs in an acquisitions workflow.

Independent presses, hybrid publishers, genre imprints, digital-first houses — anyone whose intake is bigger than their reading budget.

🚪
Pre-screened intake
The obvious no's are handled before a reader opens the file. Your team only ever sees what cleared the first pass.
📐
One consistent standard
The same structured evaluation on every submission — no drift by reader, deadline, or how deep the stack is that week.
📄
Defensible acquisition record
A formal Certificate of Evaluation — grade, score, category breakdown — on file behind every yes and every no.
🔒
Author-safe by design
Unpublished manuscripts are never retained on our servers. You keep the score metadata; the author keeps their file. Tell submitters that plainly.
📚
Fiction and nonfiction, one intake
Manuscripts, proposals, and audio/podcast scripts are each routed to the evaluation engine tuned for that format — automatically.
🏷️
Priced for an imprint
Volume evaluation pricing scaled to a reading period or a full year — not an enterprise contract, not a per-seat platform.
The Workflow

Where it sits in acquisitions.

It doesn't change how you acquire. It changes what reaches the desk and what's on file when you decide.

The signed author attaches your imprint's verified credential to every submission that follows.
A Line You Can Put in Your Submission Guidelines

Manuscripts are evaluated. They are not stored.

AuthorSuite keeps only the evaluation metadata — title, date, score, grade, verdict, certificate number. The manuscript itself is never retained on our servers, never used to train anything, never readable back. That's not a policy setting. It's how the pipeline is built — and it's a promise you can pass straight through to the authors who submit to you.

Proof Before Pitch

72 manuscripts screened on one standard before the first client signed.

The founder ran a full slush pile through the evaluation engine before opening it to publishers. These aren't projections.

The Credential

The certificate your author carries into every room after yours.

Every evaluation issues an AuthorSuite Validated Certificate — scored, graded, verifiable by number. The author you sign attaches it to every subsequent submission, agent query, and rights pitch. Your imprint's name is on the reason they got the meeting.

Questions Acquisitions Editors Ask

Answered before you have to.

Does this replace our readers?
No. It clears their desk. AuthorSuite handles the first pass — the submissions that were never going to acquisition anyway — and scores the rest on one consistent standard. Your readers spend their hours on the shortlist that actually deserves the debate.
What happens to a manuscript that's submitted for evaluation?
It is evaluated and then it is gone. We retain only the metadata — title, date, score, grade, verdict, certificate number — so the credential stays verifiable. The manuscript text is never stored on our servers, never used for training, never readable back. You can quote that verbatim to your submitters.
How consistent is the scoring across a whole reading period?
The same standard applies to the first submission and the five-hundredth. No fatigue, no drift, no "it was late in the day" reads. Every submission gets the same structured evaluation and a documented score you can defend to a submitter who asks why they were passed.
We publish fiction and nonfiction. Is this one tool for both?
Yes. Manuscripts, book proposals, and audio/podcast scripts are each routed automatically to the evaluation engine tuned for that format. Your intake stays one pipeline.
Can our whole acquisitions team work from one account?
Yes — that's how the program is set up. Volume evaluation runs against a shared monthly pool, so readers and editors draw from the same allotment rather than each buying a seat.
We only need screening, not production tools.
That's the standard setup. The publisher tiers are evaluation-only — no platform features, no per-seat licensing. Production tools (audiobook narration, branded reports) are a separate add-on for houses that want them.
Publisher Pricing

A monthly evaluation pool for the whole house.
